Tombstone Tuesday - J.C. and Mary R. Presnell

According to Kentucky death certificate #13848, James C. Presnell was born 12 July 1849 South Carolina and died 11 June 1925. His parents are listed as Gilbert Presnell and Nancy Ann Waddlington. James C. Presnell appears on the 1860 Livingston County, Kentucky census with his parents, but the birth places are given as North Carolina instead of South Carolina.

Virginia death certificate #1791 shows that Mary R. Presnell died 28 January 1948 in Henrico County, Virginia at the age of 91 years. She was born in Smithland and was the daughter of John D. Perkins.

According to Livingston County Marriage Book 1876-1829, J.C. Presnell and Miss Mary R. Perkins obtained a bond to marry on 19 March 1879. He was age 28 and a farmer born in North Carolina. His father's birth place is given as Tennessee and his mother's as North Carolina. Mary R. Perkins was age 21 and was born in Livingston County as were her parents.

Tombstone Tuesday - Emma and James Massey

According to Livingston County Marriage Bond Book 12, pages 256-257, J.E. Massey and Miss Emma E. Presnell married in February 1909. The information on the bond states he was age 50, second marriage, a farmer, born Weakley County, Tennessee and his parents were J.D. Massey and Mary E. Long, both born in Christian County, Kentucky. Emma E. Presnell was age 36, first marriage, born and lived Livingston County and her parents were W.B. Presnell and Melvina Robinson.
 
Death certificate #28949 (1957) shows that Emma Massey was born 2 December 1872 and died 26 November 1957. Death certificate #27774 (1944) shows that James E. Massey was born 11 February 1859 and died 23 December 1944.

Tombstone Tuesday - James Lee Wilson

According to his death certificate, James Lee Wilson lived in Smithland, but died in a hospital in McCracken County. His parents were listed as H.H. Wilson and Pernicia Chandler, both born in Kentucky. Livingston County Marriage Bond Book 6, page 62 shows that J.L. Wilson obtained a bond to marry M.B. Presnell 2 February 1887. At that time, Wilson was age 22, born and lived Livingston County, and this was his first marriage. M.B. Presnell was age 18, born and lived Livingston County and this was her first marriage. As she was under age, written consent was given by W.B. Presnell. On the consent note, her name is given as Martha J. Presnell.

The 1850 Livingston County census shows Theodore Presnell in the household of G. and Nancy Presnell. Theodore was age 24 and born North Carolina. Just four households away was the Isaac Taylor family, including Anne, who was age 13.

According to the Kentucky death certificate of Theodore D. Presnell, he was the son of Gabe Presnell and Nancy Ann Wadlington, both born in North Carolina. Theodore's occupation was listed as telephone operator. A descendant states Theodore was the son of Gilbert Presnell.

The Kentucky death certificate of Ann Presnell shows she was born in England and was the daughter of Isaac Taylor and Ann Jakes, who were also born in England.
