Thomas J. Malone, his wife Annie and daughter Florence appear on the 1880 Union County census. According to the death certificate of Florence Malone Elder, her parents were Thomas Jefferson Malone and Annie Taylor.

Thanks for posting this! He is a second cousin, three times removed. I've been researching the first two Malone families to settle in Gibson County, Indiana and have been searching for their descendants.

Thomas' father was Absalom (Gibson County), his grandfather was John (one of the two Gibson County Malone patriarchs - born Woodford County, KY), his great grandfather was John, born 1754 in West Virginia.

I've also made some progress on identifying some of his descendants.

Thomas J. Malone was a blacksmith (4th generation) in Uniontown. A descendant of Thomas' only daughter that lived to adulthood states that Thomas had tried to collect on an unpaid debt from a man driving a wagon through town. The man shot him dead in the street.
