Wordless Wednesday - Smithland Cemetery

As many times as I have photographed the view from the top of Smithland Cemetery hill, the view constantly amazes me. The white cupola in the distance is the new Livingston County Justice Center. This photograph dates from early December 2009.

What a peaceful place for someone to be laid to rest!

It is very peaceful and beautiful. The cemetery has been in usage since the early 1800s with many tombstones dating from the 1830s & 1840s.

I am originally from Smithland and have always dearly loved the view from the hill. The beauty and peacefulness there touch my heart every time I am there. I've been gone many years but always visit the hill when I return to see family.
Thank you for sharing the photo.

I've taken photos from the same spot at the top of the cemetery hill during each season of the year and they all provide a beautiful view. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.
