Heirs of Dr. Edmund Wilcox

Here is another jewel found in Caldwell County, Kentucky records. The following tidbit makes me wish I were a Wilcox descendant. It comes from Caldwell County Court Order Book G, page 395, Monday, September 17th, 1849.

"This day John Rucker came into Court and made oath that John Wilcox and Edmund Wilcox deceased were the reputed Sons and heirs at law of Dr. Edmund Wilcox formerly of Amherst County of the State of Virginia, and that Sophia Wilcox is the widow of said John Wilcox deceased, and that Josephus Wilcox, Alonzo Wilcox, John Wilcox, Nancy Wilcox and Christina George (late Wilcox) are the surviving children and heirs at law of John Wilcox deceased, and that Isaac N. Wilcox, Lucy Ann Campbell (late Wilcox), Maria Johnson (late Wilcox), John C. Wilcox, William B. Wilcox and Edmund A. Wilcox, the three latter infants under the age of twenty one years, are the only surviving children and heirs at law of said Edmund Wilcox Deceased and that Sarah Wilcox is the surviving wife of said Edmund dec'd and James Meek being sworn in open Court states that John C. Wilcox, Wm. B. Wilcox and Edmund Wilcox are personally known to him as the children of Edmund Wilcox deceased, which is ordered to be certified by the Clerk of this Court."
